This particular clone, Gur. bowringiana 'Volcano Queen' is at a mature blooming stage. This is a species orchid therefore it was created from nature. This orchid is planted in a 5” pot and will produce multiple 2” blooms as shown in the product photo. Cattleyas are often annual bloomers. This variety tends to be a summer bloomer. However, it is always possible for it to bloom out of season. This plant is NOT currently in bud or flowering now.

General orchid care for Cattleyas include a temperature range of 75-85F during the day and 60F at night. 40-60% humidity is recommended. Bright, shaded light south-east or south-west exposure. Check the media and water only when dry (about 1-2 times/week). We recommend fertilizing with a high phosphorus & potassium slow release blend to develop big blooms. As with all orchids, good air movement is essential. Repot these mature size orchids every 2 years.

Growing instructions are included with every order. Contact us daily via email or phone for additional care questions or concerns.

I just knew from previous purchases from this nursery that I would receive a quality plant. My plant was in great condition. Well packed. No damage during shipping. I can't wait for the first time it blooms. I highly recommend Akatsura Orchids for additions to your orchid collection.

This was my first cattelwya online purchase. The plant I received exceeds my expectation. It could tell that it was packaged with care. I received it in excellent condition. I’m a novice orchid enthusiast, still learning how to grow orchids, however it seems like it would be easy to care for this plant because of its current condition. I compared three different orchid greenhouses and after much thought and consideration I decide to place my first purchase with Akatsuka. I’m sure I made the right choice. I will definitely place many more orders with Akatsuka! Thank you so much!

I purchased two orchids. Both looked very well taken care of(no spots or browning). I was was pleasantly surprised at how large these plants were, although one leaf had snapped probably from the squished box. Not Akatsukas fault. They packaged beautifully. I will definitely be placing another order and soon.
