Our Story

From humble beginnings, our family business was founded in May 1974. Leaving the comforts of home behind, our founder, Mori, and his wife, Yuki, journeyed from Japan to Hawaii. Together with his brother, Mitsuo, Mori purchased land in Volcano, where he drew upon their shared experience as orchid and perennial growers to begin cultivating cymbidium orchids.
Growing Orchids in Volcano, Hawaii

What began as a two-person venture has grown and evolved over the years. After twelve years of cultivating cymbidiums, Mori decided to explore new possibilities, turning his focus to other orchid varieties—most notably the large, fragrant Cattleya. For more than four decades, he has dedicated himself to creating original Cattleya hybrids, always striving for the perfect combination of color, shape, and size.
Throughout the years, Mori and his orchids have received numerous awards, though recognition was never his goal. He often says that his true motivation lies in creating hybrids that bring joy to others. That joy, however, requires patience—developing a new Cattleya hybrid is a lengthy process. From the initial cross to seedling selection and finally to cloning, it can take nearly six years.
Today, with his son Takeshi overseeing the business operations, Mori is able to fully enjoy semi-retirement & the creative process of cultivating his beloved orchids.
