Cochleanthes discolor is a specialty species orchid found in central America, Mexico, the West Indies, and South America. These buttery yellow flowers with a large, soft purple lip are known for its unique fragrance, a blend of cedar and the spice of black pepper. These single flower bloomers have the capability to grow relatively large. With proper care, its leaves can reach up to a foot long with flowers around 2" in size. This orchid does not have a pseudobulb therefore it is not able to store water and media must not be allowed to dry out completely. This species thrives under lower light levels and in temperatures between 65F and 70F during the day and between 50-55F in the evening
