Dendrobium
Dendrobium is a diverse genus of orchids with a vast array of cultural needs.
Many of these are deciduous types, experiencing a rest or dormant phase where they stop growing and instead, yellow, spot, and lose their leaves. Most Dendrobium orchids can bloom for numerous weeks while a few might only last a few days. The majority of Dendrobiums can be cared for with the following basic instructions:
- Lighting: Bright light needed- morning direct sun is okay. Keep slightly shaded in the summer.
- Water: Water heavily during during growing season. Keep cooler and drier during winter.
- Temperature: 50-70F (Winter) 60-80F (Summer)
- Fertilize: You can use a balanced fertilizer once or twice a month at 1/2 strength.
Upon receiving a budded/blooming orchid plant, please DO NOT repot the plant into another pot right away. Any media change will cause some stress and shock to the plant possibly causing the buds to drop. Allow the flower to finish blooming & then transplant. We will not honor our guarantee if you immediately repot the plant & flowers abort.
Due to the extremity of differences we suggest that you refer to more in depth care instructions depending on the particular types: Orchid Care Guides
Note: All Dendrobium orchids listed under this category are currently either in bud or partially open with buds (ready to be enjoyed) unless otherwise described.
We do our best to ensure that these orchid plants arrive with buds so you or your recipient can enjoy the blooms for as long as possible.
