Phrag. Fritz Schomburg
Phragmipedium Fritz Schomburg is quite the slipper orchid variety producing vibrant flowers. A unique hybrid cross between two interesting varietals of species Phrag. kovachii 'Drumlin Dream' x Phrag. besseae 'Cow Hollow II'
Phragmipedium kovachii is a heat tolerant variety that originates at elevations between 3200 - 7000 ft. but is also found growing at lower elevations in cool and wet environments (temperatures averaging 64F with consistent moisture) under light shade to partial sun. Phrag. lindleyanum is known for its lengthy petals and spikes that produce mahogany and green flowers without fragrance in the spring, summer, and fall months for up to 10-12 months when flowering.
Phragmipedium andreettae, on the other hand, is a miniature orchid that originates in Ecuador and found in southwestern Colombia at elevations between 1600 - 4000ft as a warm to cool growing species. This small sized orchid prefers moist, but not saturated growing conditions under low-medium light with mostly shade, high humidity, and good air circulation.
This plant is a seedling cross which means that the flower and plant will look very much similar to but not exactly like that pictured in the sample photo. Flower colors may vary slightly as this orchid will take on its very own characteristics from its parentage.
- Mature plant with buds/blooms
- Phragmipedium Seedling Cross
- Bloom Life Expectancy: 2-3 months
- Height with spike: 14-16"
- Flower size: 2.5"
- Pot Size: 4"
