This hot pink cattleya orchid, Rlc. Volcano Empress 'Volcano Queen', is a stunningly vibrant variety. This ready-to-bloom plant is eager to showcase its beautiful flowers. This particular cattleya originates from our nursery on Hawaii's Orchid Isle. The parental cross for this mericlone is the Rlc. Pink Empress and Rlc. Mami Akatsuka.
Now mature, this variety is producing buds. Flower size and quantity will increase as the plant continues to grow each season. These plants are clones, which means the bloom will look like sample photo.
This particular clone, Rlc. Volcano Empress 'Volcano Queen' is at a mature blooming stage and currently producing buds and blooms. This orchid is planted in a 5 1/2” pot and will produce 4-5” cattleya flowers as shown in the product photo while in bloom. Cattleyas are often annual bloomers. This variety tends to produce orchid flowers consistently between the fall and winter months every year. This plant is currently in bud or flowering now.
General orchid care for Cattleyas include a temperature range of 75-85F during the day and 60F at night. 40-60% humidity is recommended. Bright, shaded light south-east or south-west exposure. Check the media and water only when dry (about 1-2 times/week). We recommend fertilizing with a high phosphorus & potassium slow release blend to develop big blooms. As with all orchids, good air movement is essential. Repot these mature size orchids every 2 years.
Growing instructions are included with every order. Contact us daily via email or phone for additional care questions or concerns.

Great looking plant, well packaged and delivered much faster than other nurseries. The two buds on the plant were well protected in shipping and I have beautiful blooms a week after receiving the plant. Akatsuka is now on my list of preferred suppliers.
