Once again, another orchid very much like in their photo and one I would have chosen myself. Many roots and very healthy. I have a solid supplier for my hobby.

This stunning Cattleya hybrid, Rlc. Waianae Starburst 'Volcano Queen' orchid comes from the genetic cross between C. Luzcleta x Rlc. Mem. Benigno Aquino. This is a color evolving Cattleya. Please refer to the 3rd photo. When blooms open, the shade will be much lighter. Over a few days, the bloom color matures to the final bright orange color.
This particular clone, Rlc. Waianae Starburst 'Volcano Queen' is at a mature blooming stage. This orchid is planted in a 5 1/2” pot and will produce 3-4” blooms as shown in the product photo. Cattleyas are often annual bloomers. This variety tends to be a summer/fall bloomer. However, it is always possible for it to bloom out of season. This plant is NOT currently in bud or flowering now.
General orchid care for Cattleyas include a temperature range of 75-85F during the day and 60F at night. 40-60% humidity is recommended. Bright, shaded light south-east or south-west exposure. Check the media and water only when dry (about 1-2 times/week). We recommend fertilizing with a high phosphorus & potassium slow release blend to develop big blooms. As with all orchids, good air movement is essential. Repot these mature size orchids every 2 years.

I know I will always receive a healthy, well grown orchid at a reasonable price. I appreciate that Akatsuka offers bloom size plants.
This plant has healthy leaves and some robust looking exposed roots. No foul odor can be observed from its pot. A lot of the potting bark pieces spilled out of its pot. It was wobbly so I had to stabilize it with a stake. Happy with this one.
