General orchid care for Cattleyas include a temperature range of 75-85F during the day and 60F at night. 40-60% humidity is recommended. Bright, shaded light south-east or south-west exposure. Check the media and water only when dry (about 1-2 times/week). We recommend fertilizing with a high phosphorus & potassium slow release blend to develop big blooms. As with all orchids, good air movement is essential. Repot these mature size orchids every 2 years.

Strong orchid, great service!
I've ordered from Akatsuka Orchid multiple times now. Every plant I've gotten is healthy and not only larger than expected, but they tend to go into spike even when not expected! This latest shipment got fouled up a bit by Fedex. An email noting this got a quick response and a request to follow up with them in about two weeks. (It would be covered if damaged by the extended exposure to winter temperatures. That being said, it seems the orchid has shrugged off the stress, and the flowers are better than the photo!
