Stanhopea Daenerys (registered in 1/2024) a primary hybrid from the cross of Stan. reichenbachiana 'Eve' x tigrina 'Glory of Mexico' is a cross between two variations of Stanhopea species. These particular plants are seedlings and each plant will have genetic variations that may be noticeable in structure, growth, and flowering.

  • Plant Stage: Mature Plant NOT currently with buds/blooms
  • Origin: Seedling
  • Pot Size: 4.5" Round
  • Average Plant Height: 14-16"
  • Bloom Size: varies, (Stan. reichenbachiana average 4") (Stan. tigrina averages 8")
  • Bloom Color: Varies; Any combination of white, pink, mottled yellow, purple, and brown hues with possible spotting
  • Fragrance: Possible
  • Blooming Season: Varies, usual summer flowering
  • Blooming Period: Short-lived, typically 3-5 days

NOTE: Orchid flowers of seedling varieties may vary, please see examples of parentage for an idea as to what genetic combinations may result from the cross. No two flowers will look exactly alike.  These plants were made from seed.

Stanhopea orchids are interesting in that they have fragrant blooms that grown downwards.  This makes it best to grow them in hanging baskets to feature the flowers when it blooms.  It's an intermediate temperature grower and likes indirect bright light to full shade. Repot if necessary after the plant has bloomed in the summer.
